Designed to help us take a moment to forget about our everyday busy lives, our sessions deliver creative mindfulness within one of our galleries.

At our last session in November, we looked at “A Bride” and “Dorothy” in our Victorian gallery. We started with a slow-looking activity led by our facilitators to look in detail at the painting, taking in the colours, shapes and texture.
We then moved onto to discuss what we all thought about the artworks. To finish our session, we cut up old magazines and newspapers – sticking down our chosen images to create collages inspired by these two paintings. Some people had collaged before whilst others had not, no matter the experience level, everyone had fun and let their creative energies flow, producing some great pieces and even better conversation!

Below are some comments from participants about the session:
“Great session, really made me think about the artwork and helped me relax and enjoy an activity (collage) I don’t usually enjoy”
“Time well spent”
“I love it”
“Very worthwhile event, nice meeting new people, great college activity”
Thank you to everyone who has participated in our Relax with Art events. We’ll be continuing the sessions in 2025 with our first one on Friday 31st January, 2:00-3:00pm. So, whether you’ve never done art before or you’re regularly crafty, come along, relax, get creative and meet some lovely new people!
