Featuring a live model as well as a different theme each month, these sessions are a great way to unwind after a busy day. Everyone is welcome to attend, from those starting to develop their drawing skills to experienced artists seeking regular practice. Guidance will be provided by local illustrator Paul Pickford.
All materials are included in the ticket price, with a variety of pencils, paper and boards available for use. We also encourage those who wish to bring their own materials to do so – provided these are ‘dry’ so no inks or paints to help protect our collections.
We are also now welcoming the use of electronic devices if you wish, but please note we do not allow the charging of these items in our gallery spaces.
New for 2026, some sessions will be held in our Victorian Gallery while others will be held in our café. Each month’s location will be noted on the session descriptions. We also now have a free prize draw at the end of the night!
Sessions run on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00pm and are suitable for ages 16 years and over.
£10 adult | £7 student, all materials included. Please email salford.museum@scll.co.uk for a student discount code. If you have any additional needs, do get in touch so we can discuss our access accommodations for these sessions. See all upcoming workshops below. Pre-booking is required.

This month we will be repeating our most popular session from last year – ballet! Find out how to draw from the figure in motion, and also at rest, to create elegant images of a costumed dancer.

This month we will be exploring how to use acrylic paints. Discover how this colourful medium can be applied to render the human figure, using a colourfully clothed life model as a reference. We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting messy for this one!
