We are a free museum! All donations are welcome.

  • Monday – Café and shop open only 9.30am – 4pm
  • Tuesday to Friday – Whole building 9.30am – 4pm. Please note Lark Hill Place opens to the public at 11.30am to allow for school visits first thing.
  • Saturday & Sunday – Whole building open 11.30am – 4pm.

The local history library is located within Salford Museum and Art Gallery, but has slightly different opening hours, and some sessions require pre-booking. Learn more.

Salford Museum and Art Gallery has a pay and display car park outside the building with 3 accessible spaces. The car park can be busy when the university is teaching, additional pay and display parking is available at the University of Salford’s Irwell Place car park opposite.

Yes. Visitors with a valid Blue Badge can park free of charge for up to 3 hours in our car park.

We have 3 designated accessible parking bays, which are available for Blue Badge holders. However, if these bays are occupied, you can also park in any other car park bay with a valid Blue Badge.

Please ensure your Blue Badge is clearly displayed while parked.

We are a 2 minute walk from Salford Crescent train station and have bus stop outside the museum. Find out more about how to get here by tram or bus via our Planning a Visit page.

We encourage visitors to come to us on bikes or scooters. These need to be left at the bike stand in the car park and can not be ridden in building.

  • We have baby changing stations available the toilets – we also have a limited supply of nappies available if needed, please ask at reception.
  • We welcome breastfeeding throughout the building.
  • Unfortunately we do not have space for a buggy park at the hall but you are welcome to take your buggy around with you.

If you would like to visit when we are quieter this tends to be from 2.30 – 4.00pm in term time.
