Hazel has always had an affinity with colour, texture and shape. She finds colour to be invigorating and when combined with texture and shape finds that it creates a delicious feast for the senses.
This collection is called Beautiful Pests; Turning exasperating creatures into beautiful art pieces. Hazel was inspired by insects that damaged her plants and translated them into her work.
Hazel has since abstracted and developed her designs into earrings and other wearable art pieces. Her work has developed beyond what she expected. Next, Hazel plans to look at fauna that have a mutual relationship within their environment. She is currently exploring new ways to create wearable art and bring them to the public.
