Gary Thomas is an artist and potter. Working from a studio at his home, Gary creates decorative bowl and vase shapes formed on the wheel inspired by some of the most basic traditions in studio pottery.
Trained and influenced by the father and son partnership Harold and Derek Thornton: both members of the Manchester Red Rose Guild of Design Craftsmen.
As one can see from both his decorative and functional ceramics his influences are from potters such as Lucie Rie and Bernard Leach. He studied at Bath Academy of Art and Leeds Polytechnic and holds a 1st class BA (Hons) Degree. He is at present a member of the NPA Northern Potters Association and exhibits work in and around the North West and Yorkshire.
