Attached is a photo of a sketch Harold Riley did for me in a copy of his “Street Dogs” books in approximately 2010.
At the time I was employed as a parking enforcement manager for the City Council. Harold had received a parking ticket while unloading items from his vehicle into his archive in the old Salford fire station building on the crescent. He appealed the ticket and I went to see him to discuss it. The ticket was subsequently cancelled as the attendant had mistakenly issued it while the vehicle was parked on an unenforceable area. I advised Harold on where he could park so as not to be in contravention of the restrictions. By way of thanks he gave me a copy of his book and did a sketch for me. I am tall and he told me that I had a prominent smile, so he did a sketch of a tall dog with a smile for Ray. I have kept it ever since as a memory of that day and a talented and remarkable man.
