We are delighted that the Open is returning to Salford Museum and Art Gallery for 2026.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 19th September to 29th November.

This is an exciting opportunity for artists of any age who live, work, study or were born in Salford. We welcome entries from artists in any medium including painting, drawing, print, textiles, photography, sculpture, mixed media and digital.

Entries close on Thursday 3rd September – please complete a submission form to enter your work.

Hand-in dates are Thursday 3rd, Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September 2026.

There is a fee of £5 per entry. Each artist may enter up to two works. This is non-refundable and will need to be paid via the website when booking. All proceeds from entry fees and commission from sales help to support the work of Salford Museum and Art Gallery.

How to enter

• Please read the Submission Guidelines.
• Complete your entry form. This includes contact details, submission information and payment. Complete all the questions when making your booking as this information is needed to process your entry.
• Drop off your labelled work on your allotted day – you can arrive at any time during opening hours on the day you have selected.

We are open from 9.30am – 4.00pm on Thursday and Friday and from 11.30am – 4.00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The exhibition will run from 19th September to 29th November 2026 and will feature a range of works selected by an external judge from all submissions. Those featured in the exhibition will also be entered into a competition where we will be awarding First Prize, People’s Choice and other awards.
