For many years I practised law from offices in Deansgate. One of my senior partners was Salford resident and former Councillor Dr Jack Goldberg. Jack and Harold were longstanding friends, if I remember correctly, from school days. In the 1980’s to commemorate a certain milestone in the practice Harold produced at Jack’s request a number of sketches of Deansgate. Harold spoke at Jack’s funeral recalling that despite their long friendship he had never drawn Jack’s portrait. “I would have liked to have done that”, he said.
