When Harold could he always walked over from his studio to have a look at the Salford Art Club exhibition. He was very encouraging to local artists.
He once said, whilst talking about one of my paintings, that I needed to decide whether I was an artist or an illustrator. I said you aren’t the first one to say that……maybe I am an illustrator. “No you are not, you are an artist” was his reply. Okay then!
