Customer Notices

Please note the following closures at the museum:

  • Tuesday 12 November – The museum, galleries and library will be closed from 3pm for staff training. The cafe will be closing from 2pm.
  • Saturday 30 November – Galleries closed from 3pm, Lark Hill Place and Cafe open until 4pm.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday: 9:30am – 4:30pm
  • Wednesday: 9:30am – 4:30pm
  • Thursday: 9:30am – 4:30pm
  • Friday: 9:30am – 4:30pm
  • Saturday: 11.30am – 4.00pm 
  • Sunday: 11.30am – 4.00pm 

The cafe is open on weekdays Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm and on weekends from 11:30am – 4:00pm.

Unless otherwise stated, we are closed on bank holidays.

Getting Here

Large scale roadworks started on Regent Road on the Wednesday 29 August 2018 and run for the next 12 months – we expect roads around the museum and Ordsall Hall to be busier than usual, especially at peak times.

Please leave plenty of time for your journey or use public transport to reach us. For more information visit the Manchester City Council website.

By Train

Our nearest railway station is Salford Crescent which is a 2 minute walk away.

You can travel to Salford Crescent railway station on the train from Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria and Manchester Oxford Road railway stations

By Car 

Unfortunately parking is limited. We have a small car park to the front of the building which includes 3 accessible bays for blue badge holders. There is also a selection of Salford University run car parks in the local area. For more information please visit the Salford University website.

Car parking charges apply at Salford Museum & Art Gallery at the following rates:

  • Up to 3 hours: £2.50
  • 3 – 6 hours: £5.50
  • Over 6 hours: £9.00

By Bus

By Bicycle

You can lock up your bicycle just outside our right elevation steps to the front of the building. Visit the Transport for Greater Manchester website for more information about city centre cycle routes.
