This exhibition focuses on the transformation of Salford between 1952 and 1974, when terraced houses and neighbourhoods were being replaced with modern architecture.

Images were provided by local citizens, taken by professional photographers, and are stills from TV and film. This makes a bygone area visible again, sparks memories of the past, but also demonstrates how the people of Salford documented their own history and how the profound changes were represented by others.

On display in our North Gallery from Saturday 18 May to Sunday 1 September 2024.
