Exhibition details
Assembling into Being is an exhibition by artist Mengxia Shi, presenting a participatory art project initiated and developed in collaboration with members of Ordsall Community Arts Centre in Salford.
Through a series of workshops, participants developed and created individual artworks for their community garden, drawing on their personal experiences, skills and ideas.
The exhibition brings together participants’ drawings, models, photographs and reflections, alongside a sculptural archival installation by Shi.
Composed of interlocking wooden panels incorporating images, interview excerpts and blank surfaces, the installation reassembles materials from the creative process, exploring how individual contributions, shared experiences and ongoing negotiation shape collective making and relationships within a community.
