We regret to say that this talk has been cancelled, ticket holders will be contacted separately via Eventbrite.

Paul is an author and parks historian with a fascination for bandstands, the focus for Laura Daly’s new work The Storm Cone. He will talk about the history of the bandstand, from their origins in the mid-18th century to their heyday during the Victorian park making era, and their subsequent decline post World War Two. The talk follows this fascinating history and the recent revival of the bandstand in our public parks.

We are also joined by Alex Mitchell, Archivist at the University of Salford, who will give a short introduction to the archives at the University, which includes material Laura used in her early research for The Storm Cone.

For more information about The Storm Cone visit the project website, where you can also download the free app to use in Peel Park.

FREE, booking required.
