Manchester and Salford Council of Social Service

In 2014 before I left The Charity Service (Registered Charity No: 1011293) the picture was in their possession held for the original charity MANCHESTER AND SALFORD COUNCIL OF SOCIAL SERVICE.

The following information came from the Manchester & Salford Council of Social Service Annual Report for 1969 – 70.

‘A family carol concert was held in the Library Theatre, a pageant of fashion ‘A Lark on th’ill’ at the Salford Art Gallery and a service for social workers at the Cathedral. Three lectures on social work were arranged at the Library Theatre. Harold Riley, the Salford artist, generously gave us a pastel drawing ‘Old Lady and Girl’ and a limited edition of prints of the drawing. A reproduction of the drawing appeared on the Halle concert programme. We shall be glad to lend a framed print to our member bodies.’
