Latent Space Triptych, 2020, is a piece fabricated using artificial intelligence to visualise queer intimacy and comfort in a time of increasing virtual connection. Generated from images of queer kisses from popular culture, Latent Space considers how sites of queer comfort, intimacy, and self-actualisation are constructed while the ambiguity of the images reflects the process of searching for these hidden spaces. As digital space stands in for the physical more and more, and queer sites of intimacy and connection move towards the virtual, by making tangible these latent spaces of queer soothing and safety, this work makes room for queer comfort to be realised and felt.
