A drawing of myself (pastel and/or charcoal), made at the children’s art class when I was being the model for a portrait session. Harold gave this drawing to me.
My mother was Vera Lowe, an artist and founding member of Salford Art Club (also member and Honorary Secretary of Manchester Academy). She encouraged Harold Riley when he joined the club, I believe he was around 15 or 16 at the time. My parents remained in friends with Harold when he returned to Salford after attending the Slade. As a child, I attended the Saturday morning art class that Harold ran at Buile Hill Park Museum.
